Intensive Russian Attacks Disrupt Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while local people in the city's east were left without electricity and faced interruptions to water supplies, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has increased assaults on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and applying restrictions," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured heavy assaults throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the territory, parts of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the national power system, with strikes already affecting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
