Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
